Naveh in the Halutza region is located in an area of great strategic importance for Israel’s security. Naveh has created an oasis in this desert landscape where in the past smugglers crossed what were then barren lands. With just a few kilometers separating us from the Gaza Strip, our residents also face considerable security risks.  Over the past five years, Halutza has suffered from hundreds of rocket alarms, and dozens of rockets actually landed in our towns. In addition to the intense barrages during times of war, we live under the constant threat of rockets that could surprise us at any time from Gaza or even the Sinai Peninsula. When an alarm is sounded, our courageous residents have only 15 seconds to find a protected shelter, often with their children in tow.
